About Jennifer

I am a teacher, singer and counselor [when I need to be]. Learning has been habitual for me and sharing what I have learned using interesting methods and skills has helped me in the world of teaching. More so, as a graduate of English Education, I have groomed my innate ability with my acquired knowledge in education to be very good at what I do and love to do- teaching. My experience as a trained teacher in both British and Nigerian curricula for more than four years has helped me impart into pupils and students knowledge, skills and values to enable them to achieve their potential and by extension, be responsible individuals to themselves and to the society at large.

About the lesson

The first method I employ is the "know you" method. I appreciate being aware before working with a pupil if they have any special educational needs, and take the time to get to know each pupil throughout the 1-to-1 lessons by asking about their hobbies and interests or the kinds of things they’ve been learning in school. Another method I use is the explicit Instruction which I use to encourage pupils to verbalize their reasoning and ask questions to ensure pupils have really got to grips with the topic at-hand: “How do you know that answer is right?”, “Can you tell me how else you could work it out?” or “What do you need to do first to answer this question?” I make use of videos, charts, symbols and other modern working tools to deliver my lessons... However, I adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet pupil’s and student’s needs, abilities and interests. I also establish a good rapport with my student or pupil and make certain that they receive sufficient and positive reinforcement while instilling discipline. I conduct intermittent assessment [formative assessment] as well as give necessary feedback to parents and student/pupil.
