About Jonela

Hi, I’m Jonela! I am a University of Miami student studying Public Relations with minors in Entrepreneurship and Organizational Leadership. Business has been a major part of my life from an early age, as I grew up surrounded by family members building and managing their own businesses. That environment sparked my interest in entrepreneurship and gave me firsthand exposure to the dedication, problem-solving, and strategy that go into running a successful business.

Beyond the classroom, I have gained hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, hospitality, marketing, public relations, and business operations. These experiences have allowed me to see how concepts such as accounting, marketing, management, and leadership translate from textbooks into real business decisions.

As a tutor, I am patient, organized, and approachable. I know that business courses can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when professors move quickly or rely heavily on textbook explanations. My goal is to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and can develop a genuine understanding of the material rather than simply memorizing it for an exam.

I especially enjoy working with high school and college students and adapting my explanations to the way each student learns best. I want every student I work with to leave our sessions feeling more prepared, capable, and confident in the subject.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centered on making business concepts practical, understandable, and relevant to the real world. As an entrepreneur who grew up watching my family build and operate businesses, I have been exposed to the realities of business from an early age. I combine that firsthand perspective with my academic background to help students understand not only what they are learning, but how those concepts are actually applied.

My teaching style is personalized to each student. I begin by identifying the topics they are struggling with and breaking them down into clear, manageable steps. For subjects such as accounting, I work through problems step by step and explain the reasoning behind each calculation. For marketing, management, and entrepreneurship, I use real-world examples and scenarios to connect textbook concepts to actual business decisions.

A typical lesson begins with reviewing the student's current coursework, assignments, or areas of difficulty. We then work through the material together, reinforce key concepts through examples and practice, and finish by reviewing what the student should be able to complete independently.

What sets me apart is my combination of academic knowledge, entrepreneurial experience, and lifelong exposure to family-owned businesses. I understand business from both the classroom and practical perspectives, allowing me to explain concepts in a way that feels useful rather than purely theoretical.

My lessons are best suited for high school and undergraduate college students taking introductory or intermediate courses in business, accounting, marketing, management, or entrepreneurship. Whether a student needs help understanding a difficult concept, preparing for an exam, completing coursework, or strengthening their overall business knowledge, I adapt each lesson to their individual needs and learning style.
