About Matthew
My name is Matthew Crocker. I have an undergraduate degree in social sciences and a graduate degree in epidemiology/biostatistics. During university I became passionate about helping other students reach their academic goals through tutoring. I built on this experience after graduation by tutoring high school students in math/science as a part-time job in addition to my full-time role as an epidemiologist.

Teaching methodology: I always start with a diagnostic assessment to gauge the student's level of understanding. I teach by enforcing student's strengths and bolstering their weaker areas. In math and science, I find practice questions with increasing levels of difficulty to be most helpful in increasing the student's understanding
Typical Lesson Plan: A typical lesson would begin with assisting the student with their homework. If time permits, we would work on more challenging questions.
What sets me apart: I learned most of this material on my own by taking and excelling in self-paced courses without a teacher. I took these courses recently (within the last 2 years). As such, I had to grapple with my weak areas independently. Combining this experience with my experience tutoring students, I have a unique understanding of common conceptual barriers, and on how to overcome these barriers.

Math/Functions/Data Management/Calculus: Grade 7-12
Science/Chemistry/Biology/Physics: Grade 7-12, select first and second year university courses.
English/Humanities/Social Sciences: Any level
