About Alek

The flute has an incredible capacity to soothe, inspire, and energize—and I help my adult students tap into all of that from day one. I work almost exclusively with learners over the age of 50, many of whom are seeking a creative outlet that brings both structure and serenity. My teaching balances technical development with emotional connection. We begin with foundational concepts like tone, breath direction, and posture. But instead of racing through exercises, we focus on depth—exploring how small improvements lead to noticeable musical expression. I love working with students who think they aren’t “musical.” Often, within a few months, they’re confidently playing pieces they never imagined. I use technology as a supportive aid: slow-tempo tracks, personalized fingering diagrams, and digital recordings that help track progress. Above all, I bring warmth and patience to every session, helping you build a musical practice that feels like a retreat from the noise of everyday life.

About the lesson

My flute instruction is grounded in the belief that music should be a source of joy, growth, and connection—especially for adults who are rediscovering or beginning their musical journey later in life. With a strong foundation in classical flute training, I blend traditional technique with a personalized, adaptive teaching style that responds to each student’s pace, interests, and life experience. I work primarily with adults over 50, many of whom are picking up the flute for the first time or returning after decades away. I incorporate breathing-based tone exercises, mindfulness practices, and user-friendly technology like digital tuners and tempo-adjustable play-alongs to make learning efficient and enjoyable. My lessons often include ear-training, music by memory, and improvisation games to unlock your musical intuition in a low-pressure environment. Each session is tailored to your goals, whether that means playing with your grandchildren, preparing for a community ensemble, or simply finding a creative outlet. Above all, I focus on creating a supportive, respectful learning space where your curiosity and personal expression come first.
