About Dean
My interest in Excel began through working with business data and realising how much clarity spreadsheets can bring to decision-making. I earned a B.Sc in Business Analytics, which strengthened my understanding of how Excel supports real-world planning, reporting, and structured analysis. Over 8 years of teaching, I have guided learners in developing practical Excel skills that feel immediately useful.
I believe Excel should be taught in a supportive, step-by-step way. My teaching style focuses on patience, clarity, and building understanding rather than rushing through features. I enjoy helping students who feel overwhelmed at first, showing them that confidence grows quickly when lessons are structured and personalised.
Outside tutoring, I stay engaged with modern analytics tools and evolving spreadsheet techniques. Teaching Excel is rewarding because it provides students with a skill they can apply instantly in school, work, and daily organisation. Watching learners become confident with data is one of the most satisfying parts of my work.

Excel is one of the most practical tools a student or professional can learn because it turns raw information into organised understanding. In my lessons, I teach Excel as a real-life skill rather than just a software programme. Students learn how to manage data, create structured spreadsheets, apply formulae correctly, and build reports that communicate clearly. I focus on helping learners feel comfortable exploring features step by step, without fear of making mistakes.
Lessons are designed around the learner’s starting point. Beginners focus on formatting, cell references, simple calculations, and basic chart creation. Intermediate learners build confidence using functions such as IF, COUNTIF, VLOOKUP, and data sorting methods. Advanced students explore pivot tables, dashboards, large dataset organisation, and efficiency techniques that support professional work environments. Each session includes guided practice tasks so students learn through doing.
Excel skills help students become more organised, independent, and capable in academic and career settings. Many learners feel empowered once they can manage information with clarity. My goal is to make Excel approachable, useful, and genuinely confidence-building for every student.
