About Tom
I am an A-Level student studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Psychology. I specialise in teaching GCSE and KS3 content to secondary aged students. I have a wide range of experience when it comes to teaching students as a member of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, in which I have multiple Cadet Instructor Qualifications (CIQs). My lessons are based on the methods taught in the Air Cadets which are specifically designed around teenagers in a way that allows for the ideal combination of learning and enjoyment.

I typically run a 2 hour session with a short 5 minute break in the middle, however I can adapt this based on how the student responds to this and their specific needs. In the first session, I will often cover content using a principle known as EDIP (Explain, Demonstrate, Imitate, Practice). What this means in practice is that I will first explain the topic in a comprehensive and understandable way, then do a set of questions based on this topic whilst explaining each step of my method in detail. The student will then work through a set of questions with my guidance, and then finally they will attempt to complete a set of questions without any assistance.
