About Nicola
I have taught for the last 3 years as an English teacher in a large high school in New Zealand. I also tutor a student in IB English. I have great content knowledge of both English and History, as I also taught this. I also have developed great ability to help students succeed in their English studies.

I like to know my students strengths and diagnose areas which they may want to strength. I also like to know the purpose of my tutoring and focus on making a plan that fits my students needs. I like to collaboratively work with a student and strategies to help scaffold the student to a higher ability or higher level thinking, I then think it is really important to show the student the steps they took to get to this higher level and allow them to own their thinking and gain confidence. Scaffolding activities and questioning/discussion are examples of strategies I would use.
