• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  My interest in Maths started in secondary school with the most inspiring and enthusiastic Maths teacher. I am a qualified and experienced Maths teacher from London and have been tutoring since I started sixth form over 12 years ago.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I teach all stages of Maths from 11+ (Primary) to A-level Maths as well as 11+ prep including English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. I have also recently started teaching English as a second language.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  My secondary school Maths teacher was my inspiration. I also took part in her PHD research on Maths in nature and it amazed me even more. I have been in love with Maths ever since. Furthermore, logical thinking and problem solving are areas I am passionate about.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  A good teacher/tutor needs to be enthusiastic, passionate, adaptable, have good subject knowledge and excellent communication skills.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  I did my MA in Mathematics Education at King's College London and my research topic was effective methods to teach Maths to students who find the subject challenging.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  The only major challenge is boosting the confidence of those students who don't believe in themselves and think they just can't do Maths.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  I have always been passionate about teaching Maths and making it accessible to all students. The 'eureka moment' is worth so much!

• What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

  My dedication to understand each student's needs and cater for their ability. Combining my experience in teaching with my passion, I am committed to make Maths understandable and enjoyable for all. I am also keen to teach my students independent learning skills which will be very beneficial for them in the future.
