About Mohammad
I am a professional tutor with almost 20 years of tutoring and teaching experience. I have taught in both inner city challenging and in outstanding schools, teaching students of all ages, abilities and needs. Currently, I am a full time science teacher specialising in chemistry in one of the best state schools in the midlands with `Ofsted recognition of outstanding’ features across all subjects.
I initially became interested in teaching, when I became a volunteer, helping in planning and organising a free community based `supplementary school’, in which I was also the school Secretary, Coordinator, Tutor and Mentor. The school taught free classes in English, Science and Maths as well as Urdu and Scriptural Arabic to students of KS2, KS3 and KS4.
Having obtained my BSc and MSc degrees in Human Biological Sciences and Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Metabolism; I then went on to complete my PhD in Cancer Research at De Montfort University in Leicester. More recently, I was also a business Manager/ Director of a successful Takeaway and Restaurant business, before embarking on a permanent and full time career as a science teacher in a secondary school.
I am a fully qualified and DBS checked teacher able to offer my professional experience in education and provide tuition to students across all ages and abilities. In particular I can teach all three sciences, biology, chemistry and physics as well as maths up to GCSE level and chemistry and biology to `A’ levels, for all exam boards. I believe I have the academic background, knowledge, ability and understanding to teach and guide students to excel and advance with confidence in their education.
I find teaching is immensely enjoyable and I am very passionate about all my students and their overall development and attainment. I believe given the right stimulus, students respond by reciprocating with positive feedback and improvement. I usually accommodate lessons from my home, but can travel to student locations if required.
My teaching is student based, focusing and engaging with the student to provide specific and targeted education to suit their individual needs. I make initial diagnostic assessment and then plan a bespoke teaching strategy with development targets, to accelerate and raise their knowledge and understanding through using differentiated teaching methods and resources coupled with applying appropriate exam techniques in revising and answering past paper questions. I also believe students need constant motivation, Inspiration, encouragement and Support and that the best learning process takes place when teaching and learning are both enjoyable and fun. Furthermore, I always stretch and challenge my students to make maximum improvements in the shortest time by setting challenging and rich questions, homework’s and assignments, which are both tutor and self assessed., thus ensuring the opportunity for me as well as the student to assess where they have progressed in their learning. On the whole I encourage all my students to be more reflective in their studies and attainment and to assume a very active and mature responsibility for their own learning.
