• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I became interested in architecture from a young age, fascinated by the way buildings shape our environment and influence our lives. As for private tutoring, my interest grew as I progressed in my career and realized the importance of sharing knowledge and helping others succeed in the field.



• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less). 


  As an architect, I teach various aspects of architectural design, construction techniques, sustainable practices, and software skills such as AutoCAD, Rhino and Revit. I particularly enjoy discussing innovative design concepts, the integration of technology in architecture, and real-world case studies. While every topic has its merits, I find that discussing zoning regulations and bureaucratic processes can be less engaging for students.



• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? 


  I've been fortunate to encounter a myriad of inspirational figures throughout my academic and professional journey, but there's one teacher whose impact resonates profoundly with me: Bjarke Ingels. His innovative approach to architecture and dedication to pushing the boundaries of design have been an endless source of inspiration. Ingels doesn't just teach architecture; he ignites a passion for creativity and fosters a mindset of relentless curiosity and exploration in his students. His teaching philosophy mirrors that of Alvaro Siza, another luminary whose timeless designs and emphasis on context and simplicity have left an indelible mark on the architectural landscape. Like Siza, Ingels instills in his students a deep appreciation for the symbiotic relationship between architecture and its environment, encouraging them to craft spaces that not only serve practical needs but also evoke emotion and provoke thought. Through their teachings, both Ingels and Siza exemplify the transformative power of architecture and the profound influence that educators can have on shaping the future of the profession.



• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?



  A good tutor should have a strong understanding of the subject matter, effective communication skills, patience, adaptability to different learning styles, and a genuine desire to help students succeed. Additionally, empathy and the ability to motivate and inspire students are crucial qualities.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  During my time in architecture school, I encountered a challenging design project that pushed me out of my comfort zone. Despite initial setbacks and doubts, I persevered, sought guidance from my professors and peers, and ultimately produced a design that exceeded my expectations. This experience taught me the importance of resilience, collaboration, and continuous learning.



• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

  Architecture is a complex field that requires a balance of artistic vision, technical proficiency, and practical knowledge. Some challenges include navigating regulatory requirements, managing client expectations, and staying abreast of evolving technologies and trends.



• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different? 


  My passion lies in both architecture and teaching. I find fulfilment in helping students unlock their potential, fostering their creativity, and preparing them for successful careers in architecture.
