About Eva
I remember dreaming of going to an arts collage when I was just 5 years old and first heard that such places exist. Arts and creative thought have driven my academic life and I knew before university that teaching art and sharing it with others to enjoy was what I wanted to spend my life doing.
That is the path I have been on now since finishing my PGCE five years ago. Since then I have enjoyed teaching adults and children a like. For me, art is about observing and communicating and it’s a skill I think all people deserve to access if they wish to. Whether that be developing the dexterity and understanding to record what we see; for example learning to describe shapes three-dimensionally with an understanding for tone. Or being able to see a beautiful view and take a moment with increased confidence to record a visual note. Perhaps you want to push your technical ability to greater communicate your thoughts and ideas to others or wish your child to have that skill in the future. Maybe you want to breakdown any barriers and develop confidence just to create and have an expressive outlet to enjoy with some good music.

I can teach all ages including children and adults. I have 5 years experience working in a secondary school and sixth form college (ages 11-18) and am a GCSE moderator. I can teach children from a very basic level allowing them to develop skills of dexterity and observation all the way up to preparing them for GCSE and A Level exams or whatever might be next. With a first class degree in Illustration from Leeds Arts University I am well equipped for guiding students interested in pursuing a career in the Creative Industries and can offer portfolio assistance and industry education. That being said, I’m passionate about art being a skill for all to enjoy whether it is pursued as a career or not. I also enjoy teaching students from an extra curricular perspective giving them the skills they need to access creativity in their leisure.
My own creative practice is as a landscape artist though I also enjoy portraiture. I exhibit work regularly and enjoy responding to the outdoors with a love for the Peak District. I enjoy sharing these skills with adults and have delivered successful plein air (outdoor) sessions with adults with no prior art experience.
I can offer lessons for all drawing abilities in a variety of materials including; pencil, watercolour paint, oil paint, acrylic paint, charcoal and more.
We’ll begin with a free introductory 30 minute online session where we can discuss what you hope to get from the lessons and see whether it’s a good fit! Lessons can infrequent, weekly, fortnightly; dependent on availability I am flexible!
