About Sabatin
I'm a practicing artist working from my studio at Art Space Portsmouth, an artist collective in Southsea, Hampshire. I use a wide range of materials which reflect upon the diverse topics I engage with: social and biographical themes as well as philosophical and art-historical ideas. I have worked with school children, adults and people with learning difficulties and I have seen time and again the joy and benefits of expressing oneself artistically. This is what I aim to foster.

I have produced a large number of paintings, sculptures and other work for gallery exhibitions in the past 20 years. At the moment I teach acrylic painting at college level. Usually the lessons start with some art theory and demonstrations of painting techniques. The main part of the lesson is spent with actual painting. After an initial drawing, for compositional purposes, the paint is layered and built up to the right extend. The student will be guided through this process and receives assistance when needed. Although a figurative painting style is practiced, abstract exercises also play a part in the learning process.
Other techniques that are taught are oil painting, mixed media and collage work.
