About Caitlin
Hello! My name is Cate, and I’m a dedicated Biology and Science tutor with 6 years of tutoring experience and a strong passion for helping students feel confident and capable in their classes. I graduated with honors from Davidson College with a degree in Biology and a concentration in microbiology, and I am currently teaching and gaining clinical experience as I work toward becoming a doctor. I’ve taught students across Massachusetts, North Carolina, and South Dakota, and I bring patience, clarity, and a supportive teaching style to every lesson. Students often tell me that I help make challenging topics finally “make sense,” and that my calm, encouraging approach helps reduce stress and build confidence. I believe every student learns differently, and I take time to tailor lessons to each individual’s strengths, needs, and goals. In addition to tutoring, I’m someone who values balance, curiosity, and joy in everyday life. I love being outside, spending time with my dogs, rowing, hiking, and exploring new trails. I also enjoy relaxing with great TV shows, discovering new music, and staying active in my community. I work with middle school, high school (including Honors and AP Biology), and undergraduate students, and I support learners with study strategies, test prep, and long-term academic skills. I tutor remotely with a flexible schedule, making it easy to find times that work for you. Teaching Method & Techniques: My teaching style is student-led, structured, and supportive. I start by identifying a student’s learning style and the areas where they feel unsure. I break down challenging biology and science concepts into clear, manageable steps, using diagrams, analogies, guided questioning, and real-world examples. I also integrate study strategies and test-taking skills so students gain confidence and independence in their learning.

What Sets Me Apart: I bring 6 years of experience tutoring across Massachusetts, North Carolina, and South Dakota, and I work with students ranging from elementary school to college. As a Davidson College Biology graduate with honors and a concentration in microbiology, I have strong content knowledge and experience with AP Biology, honors courses, and advanced undergraduate coursework.
