About Paul
I am now retired so like to be able to plough back some of my experience. The industries I worked in were all software and highly mathematical in nature. Latterly I moved into teaching - initially in classrooms but this then moved to a mix of in-person and online.
Alongside this, I have always done an amount of Maths tuition. My motivation is to inspire others and to see them achieve what they originally thought was beyond them.
I have previously done this to A-Level standard but find I prefer up to GCSE (Scottish National 5) level.
I currently have tutees who have been with me for a couple of years and also some whose Mock exam results have resulted in a late rush to get to the desired standard.

Over the years I have tutored 100's of lessons - initially all in-person, latterly they all happen to be online. My style is very much engaging with the tutee and relating concepts to things they already understand - be that in Maths or in hobbies & interests.
A typical session would be something like:
- preparation before the session: reviewing where we are and what we should do next. Marking homework & noting which areas still need work
- the session itself. This is the complete opposite of "Death By Powerpoint" - there is none of that. It is very much a 2-way conversational session. Towards the end of the session we make sure that the tutee has enough knowledge to tackle the homework set.
- after the session, any notes taken during the session are emailed out plus, if something hasn't 'clicked' I'm available via email.
