About Thiruvarur Seethalakshmi
I am a versatile and experienced Carnatic vocalist and teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience, offering lessons from beginner to advanced level.
A Music Graduate from the University of Madras, I have dedicated my career to developing students’ vocal technique, musical understanding, and confidence in Carnatic music. I have also served as a Professor at Chennai Music College, gaining extensive experience in teaching and mentoring students at different stages of their musical journey.
My teaching is carefully tailored to each student's level and goals, whether they are learning Carnatic music for the first time, preparing for graded examinations, or seeking advanced training in performance and repertoire.

I believe learning Carnatic music should be both structured and enjoyable, helping each student develop a strong musical foundation while building confidence and a genuine love for music.
My lessons are tailored to the individual student’s age, experience, ability and goals. Beginners are guided step by step through the fundamentals of Carnatic music, including sruthi, tala, voice culture, basic exercises, geethams and compositions. As students progress, lessons develop their understanding of ragas, kritis, varnams, manodharma, alapana, neraval and kalpana swaras, according to their level.
I place particular emphasis on correct pronunciation, pitch, rhythm, voice control and musical expression, while encouraging students to understand the music rather than simply memorising compositions. Students are given clear guidance on practice techniques so they can make steady progress between lessons.
Lessons via zoom and are typically 30–60 minutes, depending on the student’s age, level and requirements.
