About Brian
I have both a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's degree in English, with a concentration in both on poetry. While I was in college, I also pursued opportunities in tutoring. I have also tutored at various times throughout my teaching career. I enjoy reading, bicycle riding, writing, swimming, and just learning new things in general. I thoroughly enjoy helping others in gaining new insights into their writing skills and, as a result, improving their English communication skills. I look forward to helping you as well.

The bulk of my experience has been in essay writing (both expository, or informative, and persuasive essays). My courses are designed to "build" an essay, from introduction, with a particular focus on the thesis statement, to body paragraphs, to conclusion, including overall format (I am experienced in both MLA and APA formats). I would approach my tutoring in much the same way. In addition, I strongly emphasize clarity and conciseness (being as clear as possible, while also staying focused on the topic, and using the fewest words possible).
