About Chris
With 8 years of experience, including 2 years in an ICT classroom and one year as an assistant principal where I trained teachers, I offer a professional, well-rounded approach to tutoring in both math and ELA. My proven success includes 90%+ in Math and 85%+ in ELA state testing. I use a data-driven approach with regular check-ins, adjusting lessons to meet individual needs. I blend inquiry-based learning with direct instruction, using both digital and tangible manipulatives in math and analyzing author moves in ELA to improve comprehension and writing. I also provide state test preparation. Specializing in grades 2-4, I guide students through foundational skills and prepare them for more complex academic challenges. As a yoga instructor, I can integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) and breathing techniques into tutoring sessions upon request, helping students manage stress, improve focus, and build emotional resilience. Your child’s growth is my priority, and I’m dedicated to supporting their academic and personal development.

I offer a data-driven tutoring approach, with regular check-ins to assess progress and adjust instruction. I use modeling and both digital and tangible manipulatives for math, ensuring hands-on learning. My teaching blends inquiry-based methods with direct instruction, always incorporating humor and engagement to keep students motivated. In ELA, I tailor lessons based on reading levels, focusing on main ideas and analyzing author moves to enhance comprehension and writing. Math is planned weekly but adapted to ensure proficiency, with exit tickets after each lesson to track growth. I specialize in 2nd and 3rd-grade content but also work with 4th graders, preparing them for more complex thinking and state tests. With 8 years of experience, including 2 years in an ICT classroom, I’ve consistently achieved 90%+ in Math and 85%+ in ELA state testing. I’m also skilled at state test prep, using grade-level standards to guide my students to success.
