About Amanda
Hi, I’m Amanda—a credentialed elementary educator with a BA in Liberal Studies and over six years of hands-on experience teaching and tutoring students in grades K–5. I’ve taught in both public and private school settings, and I specialize in supporting students in English Language Arts and foundational math skills, especially those who need extra encouragement or are performing below grade level. As a tutor, I bring the same care, organization, and passion to my sessions as I do in the classroom. I’m trained in proven teaching strategies, including Singapore Math and Literacy Essentials, and I always tailor my lessons to meet the unique needs of each student. I specialize in working with elementary students (K-5), including those who may be below grade level or need extra support in foundational ELA and math skills. With a BA in Liberal Studies and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, I bring both strong academic knowledge and over 6 years of classroom and one-on-one experience.
I use proven techniques I’ve been trained in—like Singapore Math and Literacy Essentials—and adapt my instruction based on each student’s goals, learning style, and pace. I strive to build confidence through positive reinforcement, clear expectations, and consistent feedback. My lessons are interactive and age-appropriate, often integrating hands-on activities or relatable visuals to make learning stick.
A typical session begins with a quick warm-up or review to assess understanding, followed by direct instruction of a new concept, guided practice, and time for questions. I close each session by celebrating wins and noting areas for next time.
What sets me apart is my ability to create a safe, encouraging space for kids to learn and take academic risks. I’m not just teaching content—I’m helping them feel capable and excited about learning again.
