About Bill
I have over thirty years' experience teaching at the college level. I have also published poems and movie analyses, so I know the creative and analytical processes from the writing side as well as from the reading side. I believe this gives me an added insight into how to approach a literary text.

A typical lesson plan would help a student approach a literary text from 3 different angles: 1) how he might personally relate to the text; 2) how he might develop a defensible interpretation of the text that he could present in a paper for class; and 3) how the text might relate to events in the real world or to other literary texts. I believe this approach sets me apart from others who might emphasize one or two of these approaches, but not all three. I also like to use questions to draw a student out to help him or her express and clarify their ideas.
