About Will

Since embarking on my tutoring journey in 2018, I have had the privilege to work with a myriad of students who have all had specific requirements. I am a current tutor at Simply Learning Tuition, one of the most prestigious agencies in the country and have taught at Westminster Tutors, one of the best independent sixth form colleges in London. I believe that all students should have access to excellent yet affordable teaching. This is what I offer.

I have worked with students who were looking to raise their studies to obtain their targets at GCSE, students looking to obtain excellence in their A Levels so that they can go to prestigious universities, students looking to learn the tools to develop their KS3 learning.

I have worked with students with ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, autism and more besides. I have experience in helping students who are dealing with GAD, depression and PTSD. I pride myself in being able to not only allow students to do better in their studies, but also to recognise the value of their SEND when approaching tasks.

The most fulfilling part of this job is finding what works for them. It`s such a thrill to see them grow with the right guidance.

About the lesson

Though I am personable and affable teacher, I take my job seriously. I make sure that students feel that they are being supported and confident in my lessons, so that they can real see their own growth.

Each and every lesson has a manageable target. When preparing, I always ask myself: 'what do I want the student leaving this class having learned.' Perhaps it's an aspect of essay writing, a profounder understanding of a character or theme in a set text or maybe it's even developing an appreciation of the significance of the material by discussing the context. At the beginning of the subsequent lesson, we spend a moment considering the content from the lesson before. Through tests, games and discussion I am able to get a sense of what has been understood, but also of how confidently they are able to draw from that knowledge. Once I see they are confident with the content, only then do we move on.

The reason I take this more methodical approach is because momentum and confidence is such an important aspect of English. Tutoring provides the perfect opportunity to legitimately and wholeheartedly go at the pace of the individual.

Importantly, I always look to improve my own teaching. I am confident in my profession, but I am rigorous with myself and always consider whether I am taking the best approach. Each lesson you will have access to all the work that I have done with the student, I also give reports on each and every lesson so that you can monitor their progress.
