About Candice

Candice is a committed and motivating teacher, and is passionate about music education. She believes both teaching and learning music are rewarding and life-changing to everyone. With her extensive experience of teaching flute and music theory, she is adept at communicating with students at all age, levels or learning needs. Her aim is to keep the enjoyment in for every student no matter the learning goal is for just a hobby or for examinations and performance. She is specialised in teaching classical music, and also popular music such as movie themes and musical theatre.

Candice has 20 years of teaching experience in both schools and private settings. She has seen hundreds of her students through graded practical and theory exams with good results. Recently, she has completed a Master degree in Music Education (Instrumental and Vocal Teaching) with a merit award at the University of York. She is confident in providing lesson plans to suit the learning objectives and styles of different students.

About the lesson

Lessons can be at Candice’s home (YO23), online or at student’s home (York area only). Prior to the start of first lesson, she can provide advice on buying an instrument. She also has an elementary level flute to try on if you require for the first lesson. She will talk to you about your interest, learning objectives and expectations, etc at first. For young children, a different approach such as fun ice-breaking music games will be expected.
