About Imani
Education and tutoring have been a part of my life long before I entered the classroom professionally. I began with peer tutoring as a student and continued developing my skills as an educator throughout my academic and professional journey.
I have three years of classroom teaching experience, including one year working in Special Education. These experiences have strengthened my ability to recognize that students do not all learn in the same way and that sometimes a student needs a concept explained differently—not simply repeated.
Over the years, my role in education has evolved from peer tutor to professional classroom teacher, but my goal has remained the same: to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence in their own abilities.

I teach math as a language, not just a set of formulas to memorize. My lessons focus on helping students understand what they are seeing, what the mathematical vocabulary means, and how those ideas connect before jumping into calculations.
I use visual information organizers, diagrams, labeling, and step-by-step breakdowns to make complex concepts easier to understand. This is especially helpful in Geometry, where I encourage students to identify and understand the parts of a figure before solving the problem.
I am proficient in Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus, and I have experience differentiating instruction for students with special education needs and different learning styles. My goal is to help students build genuine mathematical understanding so they can approach problems with more confidence and independence.
