About Kemi
I have been illustrating for ten years and have worked on children's books, curriculum materials for tech start-ups, textile design and online fiction, as well as teaching myself craft techniques such as doll-making, book-binding and ceramics.
I have also been a qualified teacher for six years. I have experience teaching art to classes between EYFS and Sixth Form and I always focus on bringing a deeper understanding of art to my pupils, helping them to dig deeper into their own creativity. I also have experience in helping art students prepare portfolios for university admission, whether it be art foundation or art degrees. I am now looking to bring my knowledge and skillset to tutoring at home.

For young students, I base my classes on an artist, a central theme or a work of art. I approach each topic by providing context around the artist or topic through rich storytelling and imaginative talk, as well as intention-setting and open, stimulating practice with art materials. I have based my educational practices on a number of key thinkers and art-specific pedagogy. My teaching method is experiential, providing pupils with the confidence and curiosity needed to play and learn. I value all contributions and honour individuality, knowing that it is the journey of artistic self-expression that allows creativity to flourish.
