About Faizel

I am a qualified teacher and educational consultant with more than 24 years' experience working with children, families and schools in the UK and internationally.

My career has included nearly nine years at Wetherby Preparatory School in London, as well as senior leadership experience as a school principal. Throughout my career, I have worked with children across a wide range of abilities and have developed particular expertise in preparing children for competitive independent-school entrance examinations.

I believe effective education begins with understanding the individual child. Two children preparing for the same examination may need very different things from me. One may need greater academic challenge, another stronger foundations, while another may know the material but need help developing confidence and performing under pressure.

This is why I do not simply teach towards an examination. I work to understand how each child thinks, learns and responds to challenge, and then shape my teaching accordingly.

I particularly enjoy helping children recognise what they are capable of and giving them the knowledge, strategies and confidence to demonstrate it.

About the lesson

I specialise in preparing children for competitive 7+, 8+ and 11+ entrance examinations, with particular experience of leading UK independent schools.

My approach begins with understanding the individual child. I identify their strengths, the areas that need developing and the specific demands of the schools they are preparing for. Lessons are then carefully structured around those needs rather than following a generic programme.

Preparation can include English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, comprehension, creative writing, problem-solving and exam technique. Alongside academic development, I place considerable emphasis on confidence, independence and helping children perform effectively under pressure.

I have worked in education for more than 24 years, including nearly nine years at Wetherby Preparatory School in London, where I taught children preparing for highly competitive independent-school entrance examinations. I have subsequently worked extensively with private families, supporting children through 7+, 8+ and 11+ preparation and school admissions.

Lessons are individualised, purposeful and focused on helping each child make measurable progress towards their target schools. I work primarily with children aged 6–11 and lessons are delivered online, typically for 60 minutes.
