About Ruben

I am a seasoned language instructor with a profound passion for the Persian language and culture, as well as a broader interest in Iranian studies. While I may not be a native speaker, I have dedicated half of my life to the study of Persian, achieving a native-level command of the language. My deep connection with Iran, acquired through extensive travel and living experiences, has enriched my understanding of both the language and the vibrant Iranian culture.

Over the course of my career as an instructor, I have had the privilege of teaching students from diverse backgrounds and various prestigious institutions such as Oxford, the University of London, UCLA, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Lausanne, West Point, Urbana-Champaign, Pennsylvania, and many others. I take great pride in consistently receiving positive feedback from my students and feel grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such remarkable individuals.

Through years of teaching, I have come to realize that being a non-native speaker of Persian is not a disadvantage but rather an advantage. Having embarked on the journey of language acquisition myself, I can empathize with students' questions and employ a simpler language to explain complex concepts. I am intimately acquainted with the challenges students face in mastering a new language, and, as attested by my students, I approach the learning process with patience and a profound sense of responsibility as an educator.

About the lesson

I tailor my language classes to suit the unique characteristics, preferences, and interests of each student. I will create a customized learning strategy for every student, taking into account their individual needs and goals. We will discuss this strategy together and proceed with our learning journey accordingly.
I primarily work with upper beginner, intermediate, and advanced students who have clear objectives or specific interests. It's important to me that students have a strong motivation to learn. However, I am also open to working with absolute beginners, as long as they possess a high level of motivation.
My areas of expertise and interest encompass politics, literature, culture, history, and the humanities in general. Given my specialization in Modern Persian language and Classical Persian literature, I offer the following courses:

- Persian language courses at different proficiency levels.
- Specialized courses that focus on specific topics, such as politics or literature.
- Instruction in Classical Persian language.
- Specialized courses dedicated to specific works of Classical Persian literature.
- Middle Persian or Pahlavi language instruction.
