About Karissa
I have a Bachelor of the Arts in International Studies where I double majored in Dance and Anthropology writing a 70-page thesis on the power dynamics in the social dancing body and the social dancing lifestyle of Costa Rican dance culture. I have choreographed two musicals, choreographed several of my own concerts including a 3-hour long interactive dance installation for my thesis, and have taught ballroom in a dance studio. I'm an experienced social dancer and pride myself in my ability to break down movements and help students feel comfortable in their moving bodies.

I have years of experience teaching Latin dance in the studio and dancing it socially. I believe every person can dance and wiggle their hips when we start to learn about how the body works and let go of what others might think! I love to make students feel comfortable as we shimmy our way into social dancing expertise! I can take a student who has two left feet and get them twirling around the dance floor confidently in no time! Whether you want to learn to lead to get into the social dancing world, have never thought of dancing until now, or want to improve your hip action techniques, I am happy to get moving with you! We will start from the bottom up, basics of feet into body control, hip movements, and hand styling. No matter your level, we will improve your movement as a team!
