About Bradly

I have been teaching and tutoring for over 18 years. I was fortunate to discover my calling early in life, and I have dedicated my career to working with students across every educational environment—from public and private classrooms to cottage schools, specialized maths extension programs, and one-on-one mentoring.

Having worked with students of all ages, I know that no two learners think alike. My background in psychology, computer science, and creative technology allows me to connect with students quickly, demystify abstract concepts, and make problem-solving intuitive and empowering. Whether a student is struggling with maths anxiety or needs extension to reach the next level, my goal is to build genuine competence and lasting confidence.

About the lesson

Tailored for Every Stage of Learning (Grades 1 to 10)
1. Primary & Middle School (Grades 1 – 7): Building Confidence & Number Sense

- Focus on core numeracy, spatial reasoning, and eliminating maths anxiety.

- Physical pen-and-paper problem-solving paired with verbal reasoning ("saying what you're doing out loud").

- "Work Hard, Play Hard" Format: For younger learners, sessions consist of 40–45 minutes of high-focus maths followed by 15–20 minutes of shared games. This authentic incentive keeps work time 100% productive while building strong, trusting rapport.

2. Junior Secondary & Cambridge IGCSE (Grades 8 – 10): Mastering the High School Jump

- Comprehensive support across Cambridge IGCSE (Core & Extended), IEB, and CAPS curricula.

- Mastering the critical transition into high school algebra, equations, geometry, trigonometry, and functions.

- Dissecting IGCSE past papers and test questions to build fast pattern recognition, clean working methods, and exam composure.

Note: Grade 8–10 sessions are 100% academic focus with zero game time.

3. Neurodivergent & Low-Anxiety Support (ASD, ADHD, PDA)

- Extensive experience working with neurodivergent students, including autism spectrum and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profiles.

- Low-pressure, autonomy-supportive pacing that removes demand-induced anxiety and lets students learn at their best.

- What curricula and grades do you teach?
I specialize in Grades 1 through 10, covering the South African national curriculum (CAPS), independent schools (IEB), and the international Cambridge IGCSE syllabus (Core and Extended). While I align strictly with syllabus requirements and past test standards, my teaching remains adaptive. Rather than forcing a single method, I teach alternative perspectives until the concept clicks.

- What does a typical lesson look like?
For Primary Learners (Grades 1–7): We follow a balanced structure: 40–45 minutes of focused pen-and-paper maths followed by 15–20 minutes of gaming. This keeps attention sharp, rewards hard work, and prevents cognitive burnout.

For High School Students (Grades 8–10 / IGCSE): Sessions are 60 minutes of intensive academic work—working through challenging problem sets, deconstructing past exam questions, and mastering test technique.

- My child isn't struggling, but needs extension. Can you help?
Yes! My enrichment sessions cater to capable students who want to go beyond the standard syllabus. We explore advanced mathematical problem-solving, competition-style logic puzzles, coding fundamentals, and algorithmic thinking.
