About Richard

As no doubt my friends can tell you, I adore mathematics as a subject. I will hope to be able to transfer my own enthusiasm into sparking the interest of my pupils. I am a strong believer that once the student is at least somewhat intrigued by maths, their abilities and skills come naturally afterwards. I encourage my pupils to think: the trail of logical thoughts, even if wrong at times, is much better than a hand-fed answer. With my offer from Cambridge for Maths, you can put your worries to rest my skills and understanding in maths. I have been studying towards the STEP exam also, so I am quite familiar with the A-level maths and Further maths curriculum.

About the lesson

I have previously tutored classmates for Higher maths, this year I am assisting the school's teaching of Maths of Mechanics. That being said, I am happy to tutor kids of any age as I believe that forming a passion for maths is often at the core of my teaching. Warm and thoughtful are two words that often come up when describing my style of teaching. Depending on each individual's needs, I can always form a structured approach and prepare in advance, each lesson to my pupil. This may vary for each person but typically lessons would last around 1.5 hours long. This would usually allow time for the explanation and practice of a particular concept in maths.
