About Harris

My passion for teaching began at 18 when I volunteered in South Africa, running Maths, Science, and Sports lessons for primary and secondary students. Seeing how much fun learning could be inspired me to continue helping young people grow. After returning to the UK, I earned my Mathematics degree (2020) and have been tutoring ever since. I combine my love for education with mentoring, helping students build both academic skills and self-confidence. In 2023, I was proud to be named Tutor of the Year by The Tutors’ Association, recognising my commitment to helping students succeed. I tutor because I genuinely enjoy making a difference — helping learners overcome challenges, achieve their goals, and grow both academically and personally.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is simple, structured, and engaging. I use clear and constructive methods to explain Maths concepts, focusing on making learning enjoyable while still following the curriculum. I believe in using patience, plain English, and creative teaching techniques to help students truly understand and gain confidence in their abilities. Lessons typically last between 45 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the topic and level of preparation needed. I hold a Mathematics degree (2:1) and am currently completing a Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring. With over 10 years of tutoring experience and 5 years as a mentor, I combine academic knowledge with a supportive and motivational approach. I teach Primary, GCSE, and A-Level students and also offer mentoring sessions focused on building confidence, developing career goals, and gaining work experience.
