About Alvaro

I’m Álvaro. I am a qualified teacher and native Spanish speaker with over twenty years of experience teaching in primary and secondary schools, as well as online. I live in Falmouth and have been teaching Spanish for several years to students of different ages and levels, from beginners to GCSE and A-Level. I am empathetic, friendly and direct, but always warm and respectful. I like to create a relaxed and trusting atmosphere where students feel comfortable to speak, make mistakes and learn without pressure. For me, teaching is an exchange – giving, receiving and guiding each student on their own learning path. As both an artist and a teacher, I believe in visual, practical and creative learning. My lessons focus on real communication, authentic materials and visual resources that help make the language meaningful. I adapt to each student, whether they want to work on conversation, grammar, culture, writing or exam preparation, always connecting the lesson to their interests and abilities. I am patient, organised and I like my lessons to be clear, dynamic and personalised. My goal is for students to gain confidence, enjoy the learning process and discover that Spanish can be a way to connect with other people and cultures.

About the lesson

I am a native Spanish speaker and a qualified teacher with many years of experience teaching Spanish in secondary schools and online. I teach students of all levels, from beginners and primary school to GCSE, A-Level and adult learners. My lessons are personalised and adapted to the needs of each student. I like to start from what the learner already knows or enjoys and gradually introduce new vocabulary and grammar in a natural way. I use visual resources, conversation, games, and real-life situations to make Spanish practical, enjoyable and easy to remember. A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although I can offer shorter sessions for younger learners or longer ones for exam preparation. I help with speaking, listening, writing, grammar, pronunciation and exam techniques. I encourage my students to participate without fear of making mistakes, that’s how real learning happens. My aim is to build confidence, fluency and a real connection with the language and culture. Lessons are available for children, teenagers and adults, from complete beginners to A-Level or equivalent.

Perfect! We’ve had a really positive experience with Alvaro on SuperProf. He is professional, responsive, and easy to communicate with, making everything straightforward from the start.

His friendly and relatable approach quickly put our son at ease, which really helped build his confidence. He’s also patient and explains things clearly, adapting his style to suit our son’s needs.

We particularly appreciated his focus on the areas our son wanted to improve.

We’d happily recommend Alvaro to anyone looking for a supportive and effective tutor.

Alvaro's response
Joel has a very strong understanding of reading tasks and matches his answers well. He is also quick at understanding listening exercises, and he followed me well when I spoke in Spanish.
I think we should continue working a bit more on grammar, especially tenses, as well as expanding his vocabulary.
I’m looking forward to seeing you again soon

I have known Alvaro since 2018, and I have always admired his passion for sustainability, his humility, and his knowledge of art and other relevant areas, which are evident in his work and teaching methods, where he instils those values in his students. He is a highly passionate teacher and an excellent tutor, prioritising his pupils' success. I encourage other Superprof members to contact him to experience that for themselves.
