About Benjamin

I am a qualified secondary teacher with a Master’s in Education (Leadership) and certification in Brain-Based Coaching. I have worked at some of New Zealand’s leading high schools and bring extensive experience across NCEA Levels 1–3. I specialise in English and Social Sciences, as well as literacy support, spelling, and grammar. My teaching is structured, practical, and student-centered, with a strong focus on assessment success and clear communication. I pride myself on building confidence through positive relationships, helping students feel safe to take risks, develop their voice, and achieve measurable improvement in both their learning and self-belief.

About the lesson

I am a qualified secondary teacher with a Master’s in Education, endorsed in leadership and a Brain-Based Coaching Certificate. I specialize in NCEA English and Social Science Levels 1–3, supporting students to improve writing, understand assessment expectations, and build confidence in their learning.

I work particularly well with students who:
• Have good ideas but struggle to express them clearly in writing
• Feel anxious or disengaged in English
• Need structured support for essays, internals, or exam preparation
• Want practical strategies rather than generic “English help” to improve literacy, spelling and grammar.

My approach
• Clear essay planning and paragraph structure
• Breaking down NCEA standards and marking schedules
• Coaching-based support to build confidence, motivation, and self-belief
• Calm, supportive sessions tailored to each learner

My background in Brain-Based Coaching means I focus not just on content, but on how students think, manage stress, and perform under assessment conditions.
