About Tianyu

I'm a passionate piano teacher with an Associate Diploma in Music (Piano) and years of performance experience. I've had the honor of playing with the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and am currently aiming for my LMusA. I specialize in teaching beginners to intermediate students, and I am currently a Senior year 12 student and receiver of Full Musical Scholarship at A.B. Paterson College. I’ve won numerous prizes and scholarships, including the prestigious Judy Sun Award for Best 20th Century Performance at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, and regularly perform at concerts at Ashmore Church. My goal is to share my love for music, helping students build strong technical skills and express themselves creatively through the piano. Whether you’re just starting on the piano or already have some experience, I’m here to help you reach your musical goals at your own pace.

My teaching approach is tailored to each student, focusing on building a solid technical foundation while also fostering creativity and musical expression. **Techniques & Teaching Methodology:** - I incorporate a blend of classical techniques, ear training, and music theory into each lesson to ensure a well-rounded education. - I emphasize sight-reading, rhythmic accuracy, and expressive playing, using a variety of repertoire to keep lessons engaging. - For beginners, I focus on building strong foundational skills and gradually introduce more complex pieces and techniques as the student progresses. - I encourage performance opportunities, such as school concerts or eisteddfods, to build confidence and stage presence. **Typical Length of a Lesson:** Lessons generally last 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the student's age and level. Shorter lessons are ideal for younger or beginner students, while more advanced students may benefit from longer sessions to dive deeper into technique and repertoire. **Qualifications & Experience:** I hold an Associate Diploma in Music (Piano) and have extensive performance experience, including playing with the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and winning numerous prizes, such as the Judy Sun Award for Best 20th Century Performance at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. I also regularly perform at concerts at Ashmore Church.
