About Thomas

I am a university student studying the Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honors) / Medical Science double degree at the Australian National University. While my academic focus is in science, my passion for music has been a constant in my life.

Outside of my studies, I have played the piano (13 years), French horn (10 years) and trumpet (11 years) where I have gained 6 years of experience tutoring French Horn and have completed my Grade 8 in Piano (2022). During High School, I was a part of various IMP extension bands including SCB (2018-2021) and have since helped numerous students achieve this level. I’m dedicated to helping students of all ages develop their musical skills and passion. My background in music has allowed me to build strong techniques and an understanding of music theory, which I incorporate into my tutoring sessions to create a well-rounded approach. In addition to music, I enjoy sports, competing at nationals for the u22s ACT indoor cricket squad (2024 and 2025) and the 2024 GKR Karate World Cup (Open Blackbelt Division). My love for music and sport reflects my commitment to discipline, practice, and achievement.

I am excited to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for music with students, helping them grow both technically and creatively.

About the lesson

I offer music tutoring for students of all levels, specializing in French horn, piano, trumpet. With 6 years of experience teaching French horn, I provide both in-person and online sessions. Lessons typically last half-an-hour, but I’m flexible and can adjust the duration to meet the student's needs.

My teaching style emphasizes active learning, encouraging students to practice and apply skills during each lesson. Whether mastering a new piece, improving technique, or developing music theory knowledge, I guide students step-by-step while fostering their independence and creativity.

I tailor my approach to each student's unique learning style to help them feel confident and motivated. Additionally, I focus on developing strong practice habits, empowering students to continue progressing on their own between lessons.

Ultimately, my goal is to make music both enjoyable and accessible, helping students improve their skills and develop a lifelong love for music.
