About Darsie

Hello! I’m Darsie, a qualified primary school teacher and UCL graduate with over 10 years of experience in teaching and tutoring.

I attended a grammar school in South London before studying Classics at UCL. After university, I joined Teach First, training as a primary school teacher and becoming a Teach First Ambassador. I now teach at a top primary school in London and have experience teaching across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Teaching is something I genuinely love, and there is nothing better than seeing a child develop in confidence and achieve something they once thought was beyond them.

Alongside my teaching career, I have spent over 10 years tutoring children of different ages and abilities, including extensive experience preparing children for the 7+ and 11+ entrance process. After so many years of tutoring, I know how to make lessons engaging, purposeful and effective, while adapting my approach to suit the individual child.

For me, getting to know each child is a really important part of being a good tutor. Every child has different interests, strengths, challenges and ways of learning, and I am excited to discover what makes each child tick. I want my students to feel comfortable, supported and confident enough to ask questions, make mistakes and challenge themselves.

Outside of teaching, I love reading and literature. You will almost always find me with a book in my hand! I particularly enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for reading and English with children and helping them discover the enjoyment that can come from a great story.

I look forward to getting to know each child and creating lessons that are tailored specifically to them, helping them achieve their goals while becoming confident, independent and enthusiastic learners along the way.

About the lesson

With over 10 years of experience in education and tutoring, I have had the pleasure of supporting children and families throughout the 7+ and 11+ entrance process. I am a qualified primary school teacher with a degree from UCL, and currently teach at a top primary school in London. This gives me a strong understanding of the primary curriculum, as well as first-hand insight into how children learn, develop and build confidence in the classroom.

I have extensive experience preparing children for selective school entrance exams. I previously worked with a well-established tutoring company in South West London, where I taught students, supported families and wrote bespoke tutoring materials for the 11+ process. Over the years, I have helped students prepare for a wide range of highly competitive schools, including Tiffin School, Wilson’s, Sutton Grammar, LEH, Dulwich College, Merchant Taylors’ and St Paul’s.
