About Ilaria

I’m a CELTA-qualified educator with several years of experience working as a Learning Support Assistant and SEN Teaching Assistant in both mainstream and specialist schools in London. I’ve supported students aged 6–18 with a range of additional needs, including autism, cerebral palsy, ADHD, dyslexia, and social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. I regularly implemented Individual Education Plans (IEPs), adapted learning materials, and applied inclusive strategies to build engagement and independence. My approach is patient, student-centered, and grounded in the belief that every learner can thrive with the right support. In my previous school-based roles, I also collaborated with therapists and educators to deliver creative and alternative forms of support. These included: Art activities to aid focus and self-expression Music engagement to support memory and communication Pet-assisted sessions for emotional regulation LEGO therapy to develop teamwork and social interaction While I don’t currently offer these therapies in my tutoring sessions, this background informs my understanding of diverse learning needs and how to build trust and motivation in young learners. My lessons typically run for 60 minutes and are tailored to the learner’s pace, strengths, and attention span. I’m based in Melbourne, available for online and in-person lessons, and happy to work with both children and teens who need focused, compassionate support with language, literacy, or communication.

About the lesson

I take a compassionate, student-centred approach to tutoring, creating a safe and supportive environment where every learner feels valued. My lessons are highly personalised and paced according to the student's needs, abilities, and goals. I often use visual aids, simplified instructions, and multi-sensory activities to support understanding, especially for students with learning differences such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes, but I can adjust the length depending on focus levels and age. I also incorporate frequent breaks or movement activities if needed, especially for younger learners or those with attention challenges.

I hold a CELTA certification, and I have several years of experience working in both mainstream and specialist schools in London as a Learning Support Assistant and SEN Teaching Assistant. I’ve worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds, aged from 6 to adult learners, both in-person and online, in the UK, Thailand, and Australia.

My lessons are ideal for:

Primary and secondary students needing literacy and language support

Students with additional learning needs (ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, etc.)

ESL students who benefit from a more supportive and adaptable learning style

Adults seeking confidence in English in a calm and understanding environment
