Ms Sykes taught me IB Spanish ab initio throughout Years 11 and 12. I have learnt many different languages throughout my schooling, but Spanish was by far my favourite in no small part due to Ms Syke’s relaxed yet diligent teaching style, and her precise understanding of the curriculum, assessments and what needed to be achieved by our class in order to do well in the subject. Her anecdotes of her Spanish studies and years in Spain inspired students to keep persisting with Spanish, and the content was always set out in a way that was straight to the point, easy to digest and accompanied by interesting discussions and infographics which made the content stick.
