About Maria
I’m a licensed special education teacher with a master’s degree and experience working with elementary and middle school students. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence while developing the academic skills they need to be successful.
I believe every student learns differently, so I take the time to understand each student’s strengths, challenges, and learning style. My goal is to create a positive, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress.
With experience in reading, writing, and middle school math, I provide individualized instruction that is engaging, patient, and tailored to each student’s needs. I look forward to helping your student feel more confident and successful in their learning!

My approach to tutoring is personalized, supportive, and focused on helping students build both skills and confidence. I meet students where they are academically and adjust instruction based on their individual needs, learning style, and goals.
I use a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, modeling, hands-on activities, and independent practice. I break challenging concepts into manageable steps and provide students with strategies they can use independently. I also use frequent check-ins and review to make sure students understand the material before moving on.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previously learned skills, followed by instruction on the current skill or concept. We then work through examples together before the student practices independently with support as needed. Each session ends with a brief review of what was learned and, when appropriate, suggestions for continued practice.
What sets me apart is my experience as a special education teacher and my ability to differentiate instruction for a wide range of learners. I focus not only on helping students complete their work, but on helping them understand how and why they are learning something so they can become more confident and independent.
I offer tutoring for elementary and middle school students, particularly in reading, writing, and math. I am also experienced in supporting students with learning differences and students who benefit from additional structure, repetition, and individualized instruction.
