About Lizelle
Hello, my name is Lizelle, and I am a TEFL-qualified English tutor with a calm, patient, and nurturing approach to teaching. As a mother, I understand that every learner is different and that confidence, encouragement, and consistency are essential for real progress. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing at their own pace.
I primarily work with ESL learners, helping them develop strong foundations in speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and pronunciation. My lessons are structured yet flexible, and I adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s level, goals, and learning style. I am also able to teach in both English and Afrikaans, which can be especially helpful for younger learners or students who benefit from bilingual explanations.
Students can expect well-prepared lessons that are clear, engaging, and focused on practical language use. I place strong emphasis on building confidence and understanding, not just memorization. In addition to ESL learners, I also work with primary school learners and adults who want to improve their English for school, work, or everyday communication.
I am professional, reliable, and genuinely committed to helping my students succeed. My goal is not only to improve English skills, but also to help learners feel confident and capable using English in real-life situations.

My approach to private English tutoring is learner-centred, structured, and especially supportive for ESL students. As a TEFL-qualified tutor, I focus on building strong foundations in grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, comprehension, and spoken fluency, while adapting each lesson to the learner’s pace and confidence level. What makes my teaching unique is my patient, step-by-step methodology and my emphasis on practical, real-life English that students can immediately use in everyday, academic, or professional contexts.
I am proficient in English and Afrikaans and can teach and explain concepts in both languages when helpful, particularly for ESL and younger learners. Each lesson is goal-driven and interactive, typically including revision of previous work, introduction of new language concepts, guided practice, conversation or reading activities, and constructive feedback. Students can expect a calm, encouraging environment where mistakes are viewed as part of the learning process.
My lessons are mainly aimed at ESL learners of all levels, but I also work with primary school learners and adults who want to improve their English skills. This includes students who want to strengthen basic communication, improve reading and writing, gain confidence in speaking, or refine their English for work, study, or daily communication.
