About Marianne
Experienced Art & Textiles Tutor for Children & Adults | 10+ Years’ Experience | Enhanced DBS Checked
I’m an experienced art and textiles tutor with over 10 years’ experience teaching both children and adults through 1-to-1 and group classes. I have taught privately as well as through established organisations in Norwich, including Art4Youth and Anteros Art Centre.
I specialise in textiles and enjoy introducing students to a variety of creative techniques, including weaving, wet felting, needle felting and embroidery.
Alongside teaching, I’m a professional practising textile artist with a broad range of creative experience. My work has included commissions for private collectors, such as textile sculpture, embroidery for clothing, and unique weavings, aswell as commercial projects, including prop commissions for LaplandUK. I have also worked on collaborative scientific and educational projects, including creating artistic representations of research from the John Innes Centre for the Norwich Science Festival.

I offer personalised 1:1 textiles tuition for those who want to improve their craft. Tuition is also available to art, design, and textiles students who want to develop their practical textile art skills.
I’m passionate about helping students explore their creativity, develop practical skills and, most importantly, enjoy the process of making. I aim to create relaxed, encouraging lessons where students can experiment, build confidence and develop their own creative style.
My lessons are adapted to suit different ages 14+, different abilities and pace, and interests, whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to develop your existing skills.
Tuition is available at people's homes depending on location, or my art studio in Norwich city centre.
I am excited to develop others' passion in textiles, as well as sharing my own.
I offer tuition in loom and creative weaving, wet felting and needle felting, and embroidery.
I offer tuition towards the following courses:
- Comprehensive textile art course (covers weaving, wet felting, needle felting, and embroidery in detail)
- Textile art course (covering loom weaving, wet felting, needle felting, and embroidery).
I also offer tuition towards completion of a particular project, for example:
- Embroidering nature
- Embroidering a garden
- Sashiko, mending and repairing ripped and worn textiles to transform it into a piece of art.
- Beginners wet felting ‘painting with fibre’
- Advanced techniques in wet felting.
- Creating a textile vessel.
- Beginners weaving
- Advanced weaving techniques
Courses give shape to the sessions, giving us goals to work towards, but classes are still booked by the hour, at the student's pace. All materials are provided but individuals are also welcome to use their own.
There may be a discount for block bookings towards a project, or for a course - let me know a bit about your experience with textiles and what you’d like to learn & I’ll make an offer, and an estimate for how many sessions we'll need.
