About Daniel

Hello! My name is Daniel Martinez, and I’m currently pursuing a degree in Music Education and Trumpet Performance. I’ve been playing the trumpet for over 8 years, and my passion for music has only grown stronger through every performance and teaching opportunity.

At CSUB, I actively perform in multiple ensembles, including the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra—and I occasionally guest sing with the University Choir. These experiences have given me a well-rounded understanding of different musical styles, ensemble playing, and performance techniques.

Beyond the university, I’ve had the privilege of performing with groups such as the Kern County Honor Band, Bakersfield Youth Symphony Orchestra, Southern Sierra Pops of Tehachapi, Cirte Dickens’ Big Band, and The Masters Chorale, as well as regularly performing at my local church.

As a teacher, I strive to make every lesson engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual goals. My background in music education and pedagogy has equipped me with the tools to teach not only trumpet, but also other beginning instruments with clarity and patience.

I’m known for being professional, responsible, and encouraging, and I take pride in helping students build confidence, strong technique, and a love for music that lasts a lifetime. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to advance your skills, I’m here to help you grow as a musician!

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to meet each student where they are — whether you’re a complete beginner, a developing player, or looking to refine your performance and technique. I focus on building strong fundamentals while keeping lessons fun, engaging, and goal-oriented.

Each session includes a balance of:
Warm-ups and fundamentals (tone, articulation, breathing, and range)
Technique and theory (scales, rhythm, and musical understanding)
Repertoire and performance (solo pieces, band music, or audition prep)
Musicianship and confidence building through creative exercises and listening skills

I offer trumpet lessons as my main focus, but I can also help with beginning brass, woodwind, or vocal students thanks to my background in music education and pedagogy at TMU and CSUB. My teaching style is patient and adaptable — I adjust my approach to each student’s learning pace and goals.

Whether you want to improve your school band performance, prepare for auditions, or simply explore music as a new hobby, I’ll help you develop your skills and find joy in the process.
