About Emily

I train acting students of all levels, from amateur to professional. My focus is to help students develop a wild confidence in their own experience. Drawing on my 20 years professional as a performer and teacher I offer a supportive but challenging environment that pushes students to their highest achievements. We work on emotional availability, powerful imagination, and understanding text and industry standards.

I was trained at Carnegie Mellon University, along with teachers from the Moscow National Arts Theatre. My training in improvisation is extensive as well as my performance back ground. I work as an actress in theatre, film, television, voice over, improvisation and commercials.

Besides acting, teaching is the activity I have endless energy for. It has been my joy to pass on all the information and exercises that I have learned from my teachers and experience over the years. Watching students find power and freedom in their creativity is one of the most rewarding things a person can witness.

I began teaching in NYC and Chicago as a teaching artist in public schools. I worked with the David Kagen School for Film and Television and the International Academy of Film and Television as an acting and text analysis teacher.

I have over 20 years of experience in the industry, and was trained at Carnegie Mellon University. You can find my film and television credits on IMDB and my extensive training in theatre film and improvisation is available on request.

About the lesson

When working with a new student I like to connect over the phone to discuss where the student is at in their process and what kind of help they are looking for. From there we can assign them to a class or series of coaching sessions.

I work with students of all levels and all ages. I work one on one, in group classes and on set coaching.

When looking for an acting teacher you want to find some one who both inspires and pushes you. Having a friendly connection and the ability to communicate is imparitive. Choose a teacher who makes you want to push through your blocks and comfort zones. Also choose a teacher that has professional experince in the areas you are looking to improve in.
