About DEWEY

My professional voice and acting students have performed On and Off Broadway, Film, Network/Cable TV and world stages such as Carnegie Hall. With an acting/singing background myself, turned writer/director, producer, I tuly understand show business in and out, and can help guide my students not only in the technique needed to create solid, castable auditions and performances, but how to "walk the walk" of the business.

When students work hard and put in the time required to excel at the craft and business, I become their biggest cheer leader. I thouroughly enjoy seeing my students succeed and being a small part of their dreams coming true.

I began privately coaching actors and singers after I myself retired from fulltime acting and moved into writing/directing/producing. Because I've experienced "both sides of the business," I felt like I had a unique perspective to offer those pursuing a professional career.

- 30+ years as a professional actor/singer; Broadway veteran; film and tv; Carnegie Hall, and more.

- 15+ years as a private vocal/acting coach/instructor

- Masters in Vocal Performance

- Producer/writer/director, having had numerous productions produced off-b'way and regionally

- Cast and directed hundreds of commercials, industrials, feature films and more

- Member: AEA, SDA, DGA, AGMA, SAG

About the lesson

There are solid techniques developed over years of study, teaching, and performing that are required for each student to fully achieve their potential. However, it is important to note that I approach all lessons with a "one size DOES NOT fit all" approach -- lessons are tailored to help students achieve their full potential, with a variety of approaches that help in self-discovery, acting technique, and technique across various vocal ranges (legit, belting, pop, etc)

My students are primarily adults who are actively pursuing a professional acting/singing career, though my studio is open to most any age and person who is willing to work hard on technique and serious about the craft.

Make sure that the instructor is supportive, kind, but realistic and honest in terms of your abilities and what needs work.
