About Lauren
Hi there! I’m Lauren, a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Applied Psychological Sciences, and a soon-to-be graduate student in Mental Health and School Counseling at the University of Pennsylvania. I’m passionate about helping others express themselves with clarity, confidence, and purpose—whether that’s in an essay, a personal statement, or a polished résumé. I have several years of experience working one-on-one with students and teens through counseling and behavioral support roles, which has taught me how to meet people where they are, encourage their strengths, and guide them toward growth in a supportive and down-to-earth way. I’ve also worked extensively in customer service and professional settings, giving me a strong foundation in practical, real-world writing like résumés, cover letters, and interview prep. My approach is warm, patient, and collaborative. I believe writing is a skill that can be developed, not a talent you're born with, and I love helping students find their voice, refine their ideas, and feel confident in their communication. My teaching method is student-centered, strengths-based, and highly collaborative. I start by getting to know your goals, current skill level, and any specific challenges you’re facing. From there, I tailor each session to meet your individual needs—whether you need help organizing your thoughts, improving grammar and structure, or learning how to confidently market yourself on a resume.
A typical lesson starts with a brief check-in and review of any work since our last session. Then we’ll dive into hands-on work—editing a draft together, practicing a writing skill, or developing a new piece from scratch with guided support. I’ll provide clear, actionable feedback and resources to support your continued growth between sessions. My sessions are laid-back but focused, and I always prioritize creating a comfortable space where you can ask questions and learn without judgment.
What sets me apart is my background in counseling and behavioral support, which means I bring a strong foundation of patience, encouragement, and emotional intelligence to my tutoring. I’m here not only to improve your writing, but to build your confidence in how you communicate and show up in academic or professional spaces.
