About David

I have worked in public and private school as a teacher for 4 years as a substitute teacher.

Additionally, I worked at High Meadow Day camp in North Granby CT as an archery instructor.

Finally, I am USA Archery Level 1 certified (required to teach large groups of students at camp archery programs).

These experiences and qualifications allow me to be able to teach safely and effectively to students of all ages, with multiple learning styles, the basics of traditional archery.

I really enjoy the sport. Archery is one of those skills that is easy to learn but hard to master.

It hones you and disciplines you by forcing you to become more patient and more thoughtful.

And as with any sport, it gives you goals to reach for.

And of course, I love the students.

I enjoy working one-on-one with them so I can really get to know them as I teach.

When I teach, I form a relationship of trust with my students, showing them that I care first about them and second about the lesson.

I worked as an archery instructor at High Meadow Day Camp in North Granby CT.

Masters Degree in Seconday Social Studies Education, 4 years working in public and private school.

USA Archery Level 1 certified (course taken in order to teach large groups of students at camp archery programs).

About the lesson

I make them feel comfortable with me and what they'll be learning by introducing myself and asking them their name and what goals they want to achieve while I am their teacher.

I then, to all students of all skill levels, let them know about the basic safety protocols that they need to follow in order to safely engage in the sport.

I then will ask them what experiences they have had with archery.

If they are a beginner, I will go over the different parts of the bow, show them how to string it, and then show them how to take their first shot.

If they say that they are fairly skilled, I will then allow them to start shooting and I will look for technical issues that need improving.

Girls and boys, ages 4-15.

You should make sure that they have experience teaching archery and that they place great importance on range safety.

Additionally, they need to be friendly and enjoy working with people.
