About Robert

I teach traditional and compound archery and help students to learn the ethics of both target archery and archery hunting. I set up bows and arrows and also help students find a bow that will best suit them. I teach by encouraging my students to be better than the next guy, by being good sports people.

My best friend and now wife suggested I turn my passion into a way to spread the sport to others who might not know how to get started. I started by teaching her on our second date. She loved it and now is both my shooting partner and hunting partner.

I started where everyone else starts. I had a genuine interest in the sport. I started with a compound bow, but after a very uneventful first deer season that saw me harvest my first Archery buck, I felt I needed more challenge. An acquaintance told me to get a recurve or longbow. So I bought one that day and became addicted to the sport. I taught my children the sport and they both enjoyed it so much that my son became a 4 time Westcoast IBO champion. My daughter just simply enjoyed going hunting with her dad. I became the 2 time California State Champion in the Adult Male Longbow Wood arrows and Carbon/Aluminum Class.

About the lesson

I start students off with a safety course and then a basics of archery course before we move on to hands on training on the target course.

I teach everyone from small children to adults. I also want to work with returning veterans to help with the struggles of re acclimating to civilian life and to help deal with the struggles of PTSD. I absolutely do not discriminate against having women as students and actually encourage them to join.

Take your time. Talk with the teacher to insure you both are on the same page as to what you want from the teacher.

I have one recent event that I'm very proud of. I recently married my wife. On our return from our honeymoon, we stopped in Texas to hunt hogs. I shot 6 hogs with my longbow. I had built everything I used. My bow, hand-built arrows and string performed flawlessly.
