About Mark

Over 25 years of coaching players from tee ball to College. Experience coaching both teams and private lessons. One on one or group and team training available. I work to improve what the player needs as an individual as opposed to "cookie cutter" training where every player is taught exactly the same way.

Seeing kids improve at a steady rate makes me very happy for them. I only hope that I had something to do with that. I know it's a process and there's no such thing as instant improvement. You get from good to great one step at a time. Strive to get 1% better every day.

After coaching young players back in '88-'89, started working with players individually by request and this really evolved when I started coaching my own childrens' teams and it grew from there.

Over 25 years coaching experience..from T-Ball and Instructional to College level, 6-18+ yr olds. Currently coaching the Park Ridge Warriors 14U Blue Travel along with instructing at CBA.

About the lesson

15-20 minutes observation to see players current ability level and develop a plan and take it from there. What I see most in young hitters, and pitchers for that matter is lack of a freedom of movement. I start with deliberate practice of movements and progress to making those movements aggressive. Secondly an aggressive midset must be developed.

For defensive play, footwork is probably the biggest area of improvement along with the movements and mindset previously mentioned for most young players.

All levels as stated previously. the truly dedicated players with a love for the game are the most rewarding and naturally get the best results.

Find a coach that can adjust to your style of play that doesn't teach everyone the same. You're all different. Different abilities, different styles, different strengths.

More than anything, seeing a player really begin to love the game and the smiles on their face when they improve.

Saw this with a 12 year old and an 11 year old most recently. I really enjoy when they want to let me know about their recent successes on the field in game play.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students (parents) should realistically asses their skill level when they begin training and periodically track progress. We need to do this as coaches also and adjust our approach as needed to be of the utmost help to our students.

He gave a series of lessons recently to two of my grandsons, who gained skills and confidence.
The boys liked him, enjoyed his friendly approach, and had fun while learning. We intend to continue with the lessons with Mark.

Perfect! We worked with coach Mark and he was great with the boys. He worked on the fundamentals since they are still young. The boys thought he was nice and he taught them basics of batting and catching. They feel more confident with Fall ball starting and they were bummed they couldn’t work with Coach mark more. That’s a good sign!

Mark has a wealth of knowledge and drills in o help my kids work on the fundamentals of fast pitch softball and baseball. He’s humorous, encouraging, and instills a love for the game in my kids. I have seen their confidence grow as a result. Well worth it!

I highly recommend this place. Old school facilities with great instruction. My son was in a hitting funk. Coach Mark Meger worked with him in winter and spring, the transformation was amazing. The difference in his mechanics and approach at the plate were day and night. Instead of being the automatic out he became a RBI machine. Not everytime but I could tell the lessons had definitely helped. Also gave him another 8 mph on his fastball when pitching. All through proper mechanics. Highly recommend the facility and coaching.
