About Dustin

I offer personal training to people who would like to learn how to box in the interest of self-defense and/or fitness.

I very much enjoy helping people better themselves and feel good about themselves. Boxing for me was an amazing and fun way for me to get in shape and feel confident in myself. Any time I have the chance to pass that experience to others, it brings me tremendous joy.

I got started teaching the younger kids that would attend the same gym as me and started seeking the opportunity to teach from there.

I have boxed at various gyms since I was 17 (Currently 28) always interested in honing skills for fitness and self-defense. I have worked with students at these gyms and have helped family members get into shape and sharpen their boxing skills. I am currently in the process of getting my instructor certification and am looking to build a client base with the plans of one day owning my own training facility.

About the lesson

With new students with little and no experience, I like to start with simple exercises and going through the basics of boxing (footwork, hand position, correct punching form, etc.). I also like to incorporate cardio for all levels so running is a must unless you have specific medical issues restraining you from doing so, in which case we will work on other methods to cater to individual needs.

I have worked with students fo all ages and skill levels. I enjoy most teaching people who are new and watching them develop their skills and progress.

I think itis important to find a teacher that can help you with your specific goals. In my case, I would have our sessions and overall training be in teaching the basics and getting a workout in. If you are looking to compete then I would suggest going to a gym that has other people there for you to train with that would also like to compete. I can help teach you the basics and give you a good base, but competition takes serious dedication and training that, I believe, requires multiple training partners and a facility.

I always enjoy watching martial arts, however, Clay Collard recently had a boxing match that I loved watching. Mostly due to his mortal kombat and last Airbender tattoos as I am admittedly a huge dork.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
In my experience, the biggest thing that holds a student back is their ability to be teachable. So the questions to ask yourself are, "what are my goals?" and "Am I willing to communicate that with another person and allow them to guide me to those goals?"

Details

The pricing will be on a per-case basis depending on the amount of time we spend training and the consistency we train. In general, I would like to have a one-hour session for 20$ prices to change depending on travel and your own financial situation. I don't want money to be what keeps you from training and bettering yourself.
