Gloria is absolutely the best! She has always been encouraging and open. Even though I have only studied with her for a year-and-a-half (and have recently temporarily discontinued playing), she is still a great friend and mentor. The day I go back to playing, I will call her up. She's just that type of person. Even though I haven't seen her in a few months, she's amazingly personable and we will pick up right where we left off. It has been an amazing experience, and I will cherish it forever.

Gloria Lum is an amazing teacher. I took cello lessons with her for four years. When I initially started with her, I had several technical problems. She was able to diagnose these problems and give clear explanations on how to improve both my sound and playing style. I was once a very timid cellist but now I am confident in my playing. Gloria always found new ways to challenge me by expanding my repertoire and suggesting new exercises. I always looked forward to our lessons. Her support and guidance has made a huge difference in my playing.

She is able to accurately pinpoint and fix so many aspects of my playing and constantly challenges me to work hard. Gloria is very effective at communicating concepts and will explain in different ways if you do not understand the first time. She is an incredible cellist and goes above and beyond for her students. What an amazing teacher. Had the privilege of studying with her for the past 3 years and honestly grew so much as a musician because of her. Came into college not really expecting much in terms of my cello playing and left with a much greater appreciation and a newfound love for this amazing instrument that I've been blessed to play. She's also just an amazing human being. What more can I say?
