About Olivia
My passion is learning! Growing up, I noticed that I always learned best from teachers that were enthusiastic about the subject. I will bring that to you while we patiently work together to enhace your understanding in a way that is personal to you!
I was raised by two teachers and have experience tutoring middle and high school students while I was earning a bachelor's degree in nutritional biochemistry from The Ohio State University. As a post-graduate and hopeful medical student, I hope to inspire the next generation of science students and reduce some of the fear surrounding these subjects.
Additionally, I am a certified mindfulness teacher, therefore, test anxiety is something else I like to address alongside preventing student burnout that has become more prevalant in the current educational landscape.
I enjoy seeing the progression from minimal understanding to mastery. Often, what we struggle with the most becomes our strong area because of the time and effort we put in! I love helping facillitate that with a personalized approach.

1. Get to know the student beyond their "struggle" in a subject and assess their interests.
2. Note of any different ways of learning, medical disabilities, anxieties, and mode of learning (kinesthetic, visual, audio). This can be a conversation with the parents beforehand or the student, open communication is encouraged!
3. Evaluate the current problem areas and how the student prepares for class (study habits), how they feel in class (are you engaged?).
4. Have the student set a goal (this can be with parents and myself) and from this I will devise a plan to help us collectively achieve this goal.
5. Take action! I try to eliminate fear as it disrupts the learning process.
