About Noah

I am a current graduate student in Molecular Biology and full time pharmaceutical research scientist in Biochemistry/Biophysics working in a large R&D company. I provide succinct and concise tutoring online for undergraduate and highschool students looking to get a head up on their scientific studies.

I have done all of the work - and I can show you how you can, too.

I have applied my knowledge in both academic and industry research labs and can provide insight into the need for practical experience, and how it can be leveraged to one's advantage even in a completely theoretical environment.

I am here for my students and always will be.

I enjoy being able to go to work every day with a mission - helping free the world of disease. To be able to do this, while working with my hands and mind through the puzzles which are the mysteries of biology and chemistry is a blessing of a career(the pay isn't too bad either!).

I tutor because this is how I feel about my own work, and if I can foster a newfound appreciation and understanding of science or medicine, I will feel accomplished because the world is deeply in need of problem solvers and there is no better a problem solver than a scientist, of profession, or simply passion.

• Employed IBIS surface plasmon resonance imaging technology to perform epitope binning of monoclonal

antibodies in order to support the selection of lead molecules.

• Aided in the development of surface plasmon resonance imaging protocols to improve the efficiency and

scope of epitope binning efforts

• Supported intellectual property development by providing binding competition analysis of proprietary

antibodies.

Structural Biology Research Co-Op,

April 2017 - September 2017

• Expressed antibodies and antibody fragments in mammalian cells to be purified by affinity chromatography.

• Prepared, purified and analyzed proteins and protein complexes for crystallization.

• Characterized biochemical and biophysical properties of protein samples for crystallization.

• Crystallized antibody leads complexed with antigen to support MOA understanding and engineering.

• Used crystal structures of known bnAbs complexed to HIV to design cyclic peptide mimetics.

• Produced plasmids to be used in the transfection of mammalian cells for production of antibodies.

• Analyzed functionality of synthesized peptides via mammalian cell viral infection inhibition assays, ELISA, and

surface plasmon resonance binding competition studies.

About the lesson

Gather an understanding for their baseline knowledge(What do you know? What do you think you should know? Why do you feel like you need a tutor?)

I then want to know what the student is looking to gain from tutoring and the material they are trying to learn(Are you trying to learn how to study? Trying to prepare for a specific exam? or strengthen fundamental understanding?)

From there, I will work hand in hand with the student(and guardian if appropriate) in order to tutor them not only on their work at hand, but also on how they may develop their own optimal study strategy. My goal is that there will eventually be no need for me!
